Terms of Service

1. Who we are & what this covers

These terms govern your use of the Chef Evelyn Android app, iOS app, and the website at chef-ev.online (together, "the Service"), operated by Ross Crawford ("we", "us"). By using the Service you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

2. The Service

Chef Evelyn generates recipe suggestions from the options you choose (course, cuisine, diet, and so on) using an AI model. Recipes are produced automatically and are intended as inspiration for home cooking.

3. Recipes are suggestions, not professional advice

• AI-generated recipes can contain mistakes — wrong quantities, timings, or techniques. Check that everything makes sense before you cook.
• We do not guarantee any recipe is safe, accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular diet, allergy, or medical need.
• Allergies & intolerances: the dietary and "hazard alert" options are best-effort hints to the AI, not a guarantee. Always verify ingredients yourself if anyone eating has an allergy. Never rely solely on the app.
• Food safety: follow safe food-handling, cooking temperatures, and storage practices regardless of what a recipe says.
• The Service is not a substitute for professional nutritional, dietary, or medical advice.

4. Subscriptions & free use

The Service offers a limited number of free recipes per device. Beyond that, an optional auto-renewing annual subscription unlocks continued generation, subject to a fair-usage limit.

• Subscriptions are sold and billed through Google Play (and, in future, Apple's App Store). Payment, renewal, and cancellation are handled by the store, under the store's own terms.
• Manage or cancel any time in your Google Play account. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the current period ends.
• Refunds are governed by the relevant app store's refund policy.
• Prices may change; we'll give notice through the store as required.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to generate content that is harmful, abusive, or unsafe.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service or its servers.
• Resell, scrape, or commercially exploit the recipe-generation endpoint without our written permission.

6. Your content

Anything you type into the Notes field is sent to our AI partner to produce a recipe (see our Privacy Policy). Don't enter personal or sensitive information. Recipes you save are stored only on your device.

7. Availability & "as is"

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". We don't promise it will always be online, uninterrupted, or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features at any time. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service — including any loss arising from relying on a generated recipe.

8. Intellectual property

The Chef Evelyn name, branding, design, and software are ours. You may use the recipes the Service generates for your own personal cooking and sharing. The look and feel of the app and site may not be copied.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We'll bump the "Last updated" date at the top, and significant changes will be flagged on the homepage. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
